Wednesday is a bit like a mini weekend, right in the middle of the week. A time to pause, do homework when there is some, or simply spend time with our little ones.

At Petit Picotin, we love those little moments of togetherness — children's laughter and their hands covered in paint or their faces dusted with flour.

We're sharing some easy and fun activities to do with your kids on Wednesdays!

simple craft ideas for kids

make a photo frame with wooden sticks

All it takes is a few ice lolly sticks, some glue, paint, pencils or washi tape, and a little patience. And just like that, your little one has made their own personalized photo frame to tuck in beautiful memories!

Ages 4 and up

You'll need: sticks, glue, paint, markers, decorations (glitter, stickers, …)

make a treasure box

Because kids love keeping their everyday treasures safe (a shiny pebble, a pinecone, a drawing...), why not invite them to make their very own treasure box?

Ages 4 and up

You'll need: a shoebox (or other cardboard box), kraft paper, scraps of colored paper, stickers, pencils, glue

Bonus: you're giving your shoeboxes a second life.

quick snack recipe ideas

quick jam rolls

Ultra quick and ultra easy: unroll a sheet of puff pastry, spread jam on it, roll it up and slice into small rolls. Just pop them in the oven and your snack is ready in no time!

Ages 4 and up

You'll need: puff pastry, jam, a knife (to be handled by an adult)

Wednesday shortbread cookies

Super simple to make and so delicious to eat!

Mix the ingredients, knead by hand, and flavor with vanilla, orange blossom, or chocolate — and you're off to bake a batch of homemade shortbread cookies!

Ages 3 and up

You'll need: flour, sugar, butter, eggs, vanilla or chocolate (optional), cookie cutter (optional)

easy board games to bring out on Wednesdays

No need for a whole cupboard of games — just revisit a few classics to create a fun moment!

the home memory game

A simple game that exercises children's memory (and adults' too).

Just print our lovely illustrated cards, cut them out, glue the fronts to the backs, and play with your little ones. Guaranteed concentration and laughter!

Ages 4 and up

the charades game

The perfect game for rainy days!

Each player draws a word (animal, job, object…) that you've written down beforehand, and mimes it without speaking… laughter guaranteed!

Ages 4 and up

You'll need: paper, pencils, or pictures for younger children

A Wednesday to warm the heart

What we love about Wednesdays is having time to do activities with the kids: the smell of shortbread in the house, paint marks on the table, or bursts of laughter echoing through the house…

What about you — what activity do you do on Wednesdays with your little ones?

the phrases your little ones say

« I love the fart pâté » - Léon, age 3

« See you next noodle! » (next week) - Automne, age 4

« Chloé caught the vermicelli » - Rosalie, age 3
