The best healthy and balanced meal ideas for children

What are we having for dinner tonight?

Finding simple and balanced meal ideas for children isn't always easy. The goal: dishes that are easy to prepare, good for them and enjoyable to share as a family. In this article, we offer healthy meal ideas for children, from breakfast to dinner, to adapt according to age and daily routine.

Breakfast

The one that kicks off the day. The one you prepare still half asleep. The one that has to last until recess. We limit fruit juices, often too sugary, and favor whole fruit, homemade, simple.

Homemade smoothie

A banana, a few berries, a plain yogurt. Blend, pour, done. A gentle, nourishing breakfast idea, easy to drink and full of goodness. Serve it in a small cup, to feel like the grown-ups.

A bowl of fromage blanc, a few pieces of seasonal fruit, and there you have a classic that always works. Protein, fiber, freshness. Simple, effective and delicious.

Pancakes with no added sugar

Soft pancakes, naturally sweetened with applesauce. Make them on the weekend, keep them for the week. Eat as is or with a little fruit. A kids' meal idea that makes everyone want to sit down at the table.

Lunch

The filling meal. The one that needs to provide energy for running, learning and playing. A balanced meal for children often comes down to a solid base: protein, vegetables, starches. And above all, a presentation that looks appetizing!

What if we replaced the bun with beautiful tomatoes? Inside: ground beef patty, melting cheese, crunchy lettuce, sweet onions. A lighter and fun take on the burger, perfect for getting kids to love vegetables in a new way.

The chicken and grilled vegetable wrap

Easy-to-grab wraps filled with chicken, grilled vegetables and a little cheese. Add a light yogurt sauce, roll, slice… and remember to bring out the napkin to avoid little stains during the meal. Result: a balanced meal for children, practical to eat and full of color.

Pasta, yes. But whole grain. With grated zucchini that melts into the sauce, a fresh cheese (cottage cheese…) for creaminess, and a little grated cheese for flavor. A simple, gentle dish that works just as well for dinner.

The little extra: You can add a source of protein: chicken, ham, etc.

Dinner

Dinner should be lighter and easy to digest for a better night's sleep. So we focus on soft textures and familiar flavors.

Carrot and sweet potato soup

A smooth, lightly sweet soup with a hint of coconut milk. Warm, gentle, comforting. The kind of dinner that warms the body as much as the mood.

Eggs, seasonal vegetables, a drizzle of olive oil. A simple, complete and above all versatile recipe all year round. Slice finely, mix, let cook gently. Serve warm, to end the day on a sweet note.

Vegetable omelette

Vegetable purée & white fish

A purée of sweet potato, carrot or broccoli, paired with a white fish like hake or cod. A drizzle of olive oil, a few mild spices, and you're done! A balanced meal idea for children, no fuss, that always does the job.
