Pack your diaper bag for the length of your outing

for a short outing

There’s no reason a bag for a one-hour walk should look like a bag for a full day out.

For a few hours out, focus on the essentials: a few diapers, changing supplies, a swaddle, a spare outfit and, of course, the comfort toy or pacifier if your baby is never without it.

That’s enough to handle the main little surprises without packing up the whole house for a walk!

For a half-day or full day

The longer you’re out, the more you need to think about the different parts of the day.

Pack the meals or bottles you’ll need, a snack depending on your child’s age, a few extra diapers, and something to help your baby sleep or feel comforted.

For older children, a snack box and a water bottle make it easy to bring a snack without finding it crumbled at the bottom of the bag.

And what about a weekend away?

This time, there’s no need to try to fit everything into one bag.

Keep what you’ll need during the trip in the diaper bag: changing supplies, meals, a swaddle, a comfort toy, and a spare outfit.

Clothes, toiletries, and other essentials for your stay can go in a travel bag or a suitcase.

That way, you can keep your baby’s essentials within reach without having to open the entire suitcase at a highway rest stop!

The complete printable checklist

Not sure you’ve packed everything just before leaving? We’ve gathered all the diaper bag essentials in a downloadable, printable checklist. Keep it by the door, slip it into the bag or check things off before a day out with your baby: no more wondering what you forgot!

How do you organize a diaper bag?

To save time, group things by how you’ll use them.

Changing supplies can go in a personalized pouch, while smaller items fit neatly in a little bag. Keep the things you use most often in easy-to-reach compartments: swaddle, tissues, pacifier, or bib.

Finally, get into the habit of restocking the bag when you get home. Replacing things right away helps you avoid that familiar “I was sure there was one left” moment on your next outing.

And what about the parents’ things?

Because once your baby’s things are packed, there’s still… your stuff!

Phone, keys, wallet, sunglasses : there’s no need to carry multiple bags if yours has a dedicated pocket for a few personal essentials.

And if you’re looking for a diaper bag to take on every outing with your baby, explore our selection of diaper bags, designed to keep the whole family’s essentials close at hand.

Everything you need to travel light… or at least try!
