Snack time is a sacred moment for little ones: a sweet break after nap time or the little ritual at the end of the school day to wind down gently. But between what kids want, practical constraints and the desire to do things right, finding the right balance can sometimes be tricky.

We're sharing a few snack ideas that even get our little ones involved…

simple and practical snack ideas for preschool

Snack time doesn't need to be a feast — it's about choosing just enough to satisfy a little hunger and recharge the batteries until dinner. It's best to go for snacks that are easy to eat and not too messy.

a seasonal fruit

Nothing beats a piece of fruit for giving our little ones a burst of energy. A banana, an apple… Adapt it to the season and their age, and slip it into a snack box to avoid any disasters.

some cookies or a slice of homemade cake

A madeleine, some shortbread cookies, a slice of sweet cake… The aim is to vary according to what you fancy. Homemade cakes are a bonus… especially when kids get their hands in the dough!

what to avoid

For practical reasons, it's best to avoid anything with chocolate or anything that melts and sticks to fingers — it'll save their clothes from getting stained!
