3 simple recipe ideas to make with children for autumn

Easy autumn recipe ideas

Apple turnovers (without puff pastry)

From age 5

It's the classic autumn snack, but this year we suggest making lighter turnovers, with a homemade pastry and no butter. Whether it's for picking the apples or shaping the turnovers, little hands will be proud to eat them!

Ingredients for 6 turnovers:
• 6 apples
• 200 g semi-wholemeal flour
• 30 g cane sugar
• 1 tbsp olive oil
• ½ tsp cinnamon
• 10 cl water
• 1 pinch of salt

Preparation: start by making your homemade applesauce with your apples. While they simmer on low heat, you can prepare the dough by mixing the flour, sugar, oil, water, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Little hands can start kneading the dough, then let it rest for an hour before rolling it out. Then give your children cookie cutters to make rounds, place a spoonful of applesauce in each one, then seal the turnovers. Bake them for 35 minutes at 180°C.

Autumn crumble
pears - chocolate

From age 4

This is the dessert that comforts everyone from the very first bite. For the season, we give it a twist with melt-in-the-mouth pears and a few chocolate chips…. An absolute treat! A recipe where children will love crumbling the dough with their little fingers.

Ingredients for 4 servings:
• 6 pears
• 100 g chocolate chips
• 1 tsp cinnamon
• 150 g flour
• 80 g soft butter
• 80 g brown sugar
• 1 pinch of salt

Preparation: simply peel and cut the pears into small pieces and place them at the bottom of a dish, ask the children to sprinkle chocolate chips over the pears. Meanwhile, prepare the shortcrust pastry by mixing the remaining ingredients, and let the children crumble the crumble dough then cover the pears. Bake the crumble at 180°C for 40 minutes. Enjoy it warm — it will taste even better!

• 125 g butter
• 100 g sugar
• 1 tsp liquid vanilla
• 2 tsp milk
• 350 g flour
• 7 g baking powder

Preparation: start by melting the butter, then add the sugar and vanilla to get a fluffy mixture. Stir in the milk, then the yeast/flour mixture. Let the dough rest for half an hour, and then it's time to call the children. Roll out the dough and get out the cookie cutters. Place the children's little creations on a baking tray and bake them for 10 minutes at 160°C. You can also let the children decorate them with sugar pearls on top, or by spreading chocolate.
